Lois Helen Adams (nee Walter)

May 19, 1944 — April 30, 2021

 Lois Helen (Walter) Adams, 76, passed away peacefully in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 30th, 2021. Lois was the beloved wife of the late John F. Adams, daughter of the late William H. Walter and Helen J. (Dingell) Walter, Michigan.  Lois was dear sister to William (Susan) Houde-Walter, and the late John Lewis (Maureen) Walter. She is also survived by nephews and nieces: John Walter, Juli (Ed Billings) Walter, Kevin (Diana Lyon) Walter and Haley (Richard) Chute, along with many great-nieces and -nephews.

Lois was born on May 19, 1944.  She attended school in Detroit and graduated from Marygrove College in 1966. Immediately after college, she accepted a US government post in Washington, D.C., and served her country for several years.  Lois was married to John Adams in June of 1968 at the chapel of her alma mater.  Lois and John subsequently moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where they remained for the rest of their lives. She took courses in the Masters of Social Work program from the University of Kentucky, and served as a social worker in Child and Adult Protective Services for Hamilton County until her retirement.

Lois had many passions including ballet, music and theater, cinema, and travel.  When young, she spent happy summers in Traverse City MI with her family.  Her interest in technology was instilled by her father and brothers, and as a girl had Ham Radio status as W8ION.   She will be sorely missed by her family and her many friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 1:00-2:00pm at the Hodapp College Hill Funeral Home, 6041 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati OH 45224. Burial services will be held at the Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Ave., Cincinnati OH 45232.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lois’ favorite charity, St. Jude’s Research Hospital in Tennessee, Donate now to St. Jude and help kids fighting cancer - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).
