Alan Leroy Fothergill, 95, passed away peacefully and on his own terms on Friday, June 4th after a brief illness. The last surviving and eighth of ten children born to Clarence Ray and Elizabeth (Sebree) Fothergill. Alan was a proud WWII veteran and lifelong Cincinnati resident who never met a stranger. He lost his older brother Frank in the Battle of the Bulge and his mother succumbed to a stroke after receiving the news. This loss gave him a lifelong appreciation for family. Married for 53 years to Roberta (Borough) Fothergill who preceded him in death in 2007. Also preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, four sisters and his brothers and sisters in law, and daughter Jayne. Survived by daughter Judy (John) Gould, son James, and daughter Alane (James) Ross. Also grandchildren Aaron (Jenny) and Isaac (Christy) Gould, Laura Fothergill (David German), also Brian (Rachel), Daniel (Dana) and Catherine (fiance Andy Moore) Ross, and Kevin (Ellen) Essex, and 20 great grandchildren, and many beloved nephews and nieces, extended family and friends. Services scheduled for Saturday, June 12th at 11 AM at the Evangelical Community Church on Struble Rd (visitation one hour prior) with graveside honor guard internment service following at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
