Albert John “Al” Weidl, age 83, died suddenly, peacefully at home on November 10, 2020. Al was born on June 24, 1937 to Franz and Teresa Weidl, in Kontrovers, Galicia in what is now Ukraine. His family emigrated to the United States in 1952 and settled in Northern Kentucky. Al attended the Josephinum Seminary, Catholic University in Washington, D.C. on a Basselin Scholarship, then completed his degree at Xavier University. Al served his country with 4 years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He moved to Cincinnati, then began his career as a quality control auditor at Proctor and Gamble. After retiring, Al built his own house, a lifelong dream, near Blanchester before moving back to Finneytown.
Al loved to spend time with his family, whether it was an annual golf trip, road trips, fishing, playing cards or dominos, working with his hands, or researching his family history.
Loving husband to wife Wilma (nee Smith) Weidl. Loving father to Kurt, Eric, and Chris. Opa to Angel Shiverdecker, and Chloe and Evan Weidl. Beloved brother to Leo, Mary, and Gerhard Weidl. Uncle to David, Frank, Theresa, Kathy, Bernard, and Anne. Friend to countless others he met during his travels across the United States and to dozens of countries around the world.
A graveside service will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 11000 Montgomery Rd., Montgomery, Friday at 11AM. All that wish to attend please arrive at the main gate at 10:45AM.
