The Reverend A. Raymond Betts, III. Died January 13, 2016 after a happy, 90-year life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Mary McLain; three children, Carolyn and Andy (Grace) Betts and Amy (Paul) Harten; two step-children, Jon K. Malis (Adrienne) and E. David Malis; five grandchildren, Aaron, Julia and Christian Betts, Grace and Peter Harten; and two step-grandchildren, Adeline and Oskar Malis. He also leaves a niece and nephew, Lucy and Bill Betts (George Ann) and great-nephews, Alex, Jairus and Arno. He was predeceased by June M. Betts, the mother of his children, and brother Compton Betts. Rector at three Ohio churches including, for 17 years, Grace Episcopal Church, College Hill, and served as interim rector for 20 years at churches throughout Ohio and in Idaho and Maui. He also taught at the Art Academy and sold paintings through galleries in Michigan and Maui. In his spare time he traveled the country raising funds for Food for the Poor. He held degrees from The Taft School, Notre Dame, Yale, Episcopal Divinity School and University of Cincinnati. He loved life and all creatures great and small. Private burial at Spring Grove Cemetery. Memorial service to be held at Grace Episcopal Church on January 23, 2016, 11 AM, followed by a reception at the church. Memorials to Grace Episcopal Church, College Hill, in lieu of flowers.
