Alexander Steel, Jr.

STEEL, Alexander “Alex” Jr., age 89, beloved husband of the late Margaret “Boots” Steel (Brunk), devoted father to Jeff (Diana), Scott (Lynne) and Greg (Carol), grandfather to Adam (Kristen), Sarah (Grant Anderson), Megan (Jon Turk), Daniel (Alison), David, Michael, and Thomas and great-grandfather to six grandsons, passed away on March 2, 2014 surrounded by his family members. Alex was born in Cincinnati and was a proud Scottish son of Alexander “Sandy” Steel Sr. and Helen “Nellie” (Dunn) and a big brother to Peter (deceased) and brother-in-law to Madeline. A member of the Norwood High School Class of 1943, he served in the Army Air Corp from 1943-1946 and the Air Force Reserve from 1950 – 1953. He worked for a number of companies in Cincinnati, yet was most thankful for the years he spent as a sales representative for Diamond Crystal Salt Company. For many years he owned Hollytree Pony Keg. After he retired, he also enjoyed working at the Golf Course at Winton Woods. A Finneytown resident for 57 years, he enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in their many activities through the Finneytown School District. Visitation will be held on March 7th from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. with a service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 703 Compton Road. A private graveside dedication for family will follow. Memorial gifts can be given in his name to the Finneytown Schools Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 317647, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
