Alvin Earl Kling

Alvin E. Kling passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023 at the age of 93.  Al was a devoted husband of the late Millie Kling (nee Federle), dedicated father of Mark (Sandy), Steve (Margie), Kathy (Doug), Tim (Connie); cherished grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 18 + 1 great grandchildren. 

Dad was a devout Catholic.  He was a lecturer, usher, sang in the choir and was dedicated to his faith.  He said the rosary daily praying for each member of our family and Mom.  Dad loved to play softball and afterwards played euchre with his teammates, have a beer and shoot the breeze.  His other interests included playing pool (and boy, was he good!), shuffleboard and any game where he was a fun competitor.  Many of us remember dad commanding the dance floor at every wedding.  Dad gave back to the community in many ways.  He would go to Kroger weekly and pick up  bread and pastries and drive them to the soup kitchen downtown.  He and Mom also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.  He volunteered at St. Margaret Mary’s annual festival and picnic at Strickers Grove.  Dad was a Navy veteran and served our country during the Korean War.

He was just a positive, fun/loving, family man who cared so much for his family and taught all of us that family is everything.  So much was learned from his dedication and love to our family and especially how he took care of Mom with Parkinson’s for so many years.  We are blessed to have learned from his example. 

Family and friends are invited to the visitation from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Friday, June 16 at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6041 Hamilton Avenue, College Hill.  Following the visitation, the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1830 W. Galbraith Road, NCH at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, gifts in Al’s memory can be made in honor of Millie to the American Parkinson Disease Association, www.parkinson.org
