SCHULTZ, Amelda Louise (nee Miller), beloved wife of the late Walter C. Schultz, loving mother of Elizabeth “Becky” (Steve) Pate of Arkansas City, KS, and Walter “Butch” (Lisa) Schultz of Amarillo, TX, dear grandmother of Brian Allison of Arlington Hgts., Douglas (Shawna) Allison of Arkansas City, KS, Travis (Brittnay) Schultz of College Station, TX, Amy Schultz (Jarrod) Gerstberger of Amarillo, TX, and Macy Schultz of Amarillo, TX, great-grandmother of Marshall Allison, Abby Arie, Sarah, Hannah, Ethan and Bethany Schultz, Breanna, Erin, Megan and Hailey Pate and Shawnee Gerstberger, dear sister of William Miller of Coventry, CT, and sister-in-law of Robert Elfers of Greenhills and Marilyn Miller of California. Mel graduated from Reno High School in Reno, NV, and attended business school before enlisting in the WAC on September 1, 1943. She met her husband Walter Schultz while both were serving in active combat in New Guinea Southern Philippines during WW II. As a sergeant in the WAC, she received an honorable discharge on May 29, 1946. Mel and Walter married on 4/20/46 in the Chapel at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. She was a retiree of Merrell Dow, Inc., in Reading, OH, and served as the Clerk of the Village of Arlington Heights for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Guth Bros. American Legion Post 111 and the Shelton Beaty VFW. Tuesday, May 26, 2009, age 87. Visitation at Hodapp Funeral Home, 7401 Vine St., Sunday 6-8 p.m. with funeral service Monday at Reading-Lockland Presbyterian Church, Lock & S. Cooper Ave., Lockland, Monday 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to Reading-Lockland Presbyterian Church 45215 or Vitas Hospice 11500 Northlake Dr. Suite 400 Cincinnati , OH 45249.
