Anna Mae "Ann" (nee Calvert) Hill, aged 87, died peacefully Thursday morning, September 6, 2018, at her home on the farm near Mason, Ohio, surrounded by her daughters Joan, Cindi and Beck. Ann was born September 23, 1930, on the Runyan (maternal grandparents) farm and lived her entire life in the Mason area. She had a deep, lasting interest in the history of Mason, Deerfield twp. and Warren County and was an authority on the subject.
Ann and Arthur "Art" Burton Hill were married July 2, 1949. The marriage lasted until Art's death in August 1998. Four children were born of this union: Cynthia Ann Hill Nixon, Rebecca Hill (Jeff) Zimmerman, Joan Hill and Timothy Arthur Hill. All survive. Ann was the third of five children born to Wilson (Wick) and Helen (nee Runyan) Calvert: Max, Carol, Kaye and Lynn. Three siblings preceded her in death. Lynn survives.
Ann was artistically and musically gifted. She excelled at tap dancing, flower arranging and antique restoration. She and husband Art were long time, well known and well respected antique dealers. Buying, refurbishing and selling antiques or "old stuff" was at the center of their married life. It was a very active life. Ann continued this interest after Art's death.
Until suffering a stroke in February 2011, which left her physically diminished, Ann was active in the Mason Community. Sheremained mentally alert until the end. Ann was a major force behind the founding of the Mason Historical Society and served as the organization's first curator.
Ann was a tower of strength to her family. She was emotionally strong and an expert at dealing with vicissitudes of life. Whatever life hands you just put one foot in front of the other and get on with it. "We have nothing to fear but fear itself."
Ann was respected and admired by all who knew her.She loved to laugh and have a good time, helping others along the way. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
Her long and productive life has come to an end. Now she dwells where she longed to be, in the presence of her Lord, family and friends that have gone before.
Rest in peace good and faithful servant. We will miss you
