Cincinnati

Anthony “Tony” David Ploeger, 76, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away June 28th after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023, 10:00-11:00a.m. at St. Vivian Catholic Church, 7600 Winton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45224. Mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following.

Tony was born on February 5, 1947 to Joseph and Rose Ploeger (nee O’Brien), in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1968, Tony married Susan “Sue” Ploeger (nee Broer), and lived a full life dedicated to his work and his family. A proud lithographer, he spent more than 30 years of his career at Standard Publishing. He also served in the National Guard, worked as a Hamilton County Deputy Sheriff, and drove a hearse part-time. He never passed up the opportunity to embarrass his kids, having it parked in the driveway as the bus dropped them off from school.

In his spare time, he enjoyed time with his family, whether it was road trips to Myrtle Beach or spending time at the family cabin near Lake Cumberland. There were many memorable times laughing, boating, tubing, and playing cards.

Tony is preceded in death by his father, Joseph, mother, Rose, and brother, Kenneth (Carol) Ploeger.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sue; three children, Matthew Ploeger, Kimberly Bley, Anthony (Tara) Ploeger; four grandchildren, Kristen (Ryan) Allison, Morgan and Madison Bley, Talan Ploeger; two great grandchildren, Magnolia and Lola Allison; brothers Robert (Rita) Ploeger and David (Jeanne) Ploeger; and his favorite, his dog, Cody.

Memorial donations may be given to American Cancer Society, online at donate.cancer.org or mailed to 454 Ohio Pike #70, Cincinnati, OH 45255.
