Arthur William “Bill” Saeger passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29 at the age of 80 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Sara Saeger. Loving father of Ashlie and her husband Aaron Miller, and Heather Saeger with first wife Kathleen Saeger.
He was born in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri on November 4, 1943 to Ethel and Kenneth Saeger and grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana with his two brothers, James and Kenneth.
Bill loved sailing, and as a young man, he sailed in the Bahamas and had the opportunity to sail an America’s Cup sailboat in New Zealand. As a member of the Indianapolis Sailing Club for many years, he shared his passion with his family and friends. Bill owned his own real estate business in Indianapolis for 30 years, affording him the opportunity to travel around the world to speak about privatizing home buying. When not sailing or traveling, Bill spent his time cheering on his two daughters while they played various sports throughout their young lives.
Bill eventually moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where he met Sara and began his next adventures. He had a lifetime love for traveling, which he and Sara did often; one of their favorite places was Mackinac Island. He also enjoyed the performing arts, the symphony, and tending to his extensive plant collection. Bill was a constant figure at Fresh Thyme, socializing with customers rather than working.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on July 28 at The Falls at Landen Club House from 1:30pm to 4pm. Bill’s family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the people who brought love and joy into his life. Thank you for loving Bill!
