Barry Tarr

October 27, 1954 — May 19, 2024

On May 19, Barry Tarr, husband of Gini Tarr (née Anderson), dear brother of Ted (Sherry), Bob (Barb), and the late Perry (Diane), ended his journey with us.

Barry was born on October 27, 1954 to Corinne and Robert Tarr of Green Township. As a young man, Barry enjoyed athletics, swimming, and running hurdle events competitively. He also developed a lifelong passion for the arts, becoming an avid concertgoer, photographer, and calligraphy artist.

Barry began his career in the medical field, spending 20 years working with Cincinnati Neurological Associates, now Riverhills Neuroscience. He was the first technician to operate an MRI machine in Cincinnati, helping patients in the region find answers to their medical challenges. Barry’s warmth, kindness, and humor helped put his patients at ease and made him a well-loved member of the CNA team.

Barry and Gini met at his brother Perry’s wedding. After a memorable first dance, Barry and Gini started dating and were married less than two years later. They were devoted to the Tarr and Anderson clans – welcoming many nieces and nephews to the family. They travelled across the country from the Pacific Northwest to New York City and internationally to England. A favorite place was Hawaii, where Barry and Gini celebrated four of their milestone anniversaries. No matter where their travels took them, Cincinnati was always home – filled with family and friends – both human and feline.

While there were many happy adventures in Barry’s life, he also struggled for decades with debilitating neurological issues. With Gini’s love and care and the support of family, friends, and neighbors, Barry fought on with strength and determination. He always enjoyed outings to Skyline, watching the Reds and Bengals, and spending time with his beloved Gini and their dear cats, Tia and Tilly.

To celebrate Barry’s life, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Animal Friends Humane Society based in Hamilton, Ohio.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 26 from 5:00 – 7:30pm at The Lodge at Voice of America Park. Visitation will be followed by a short memorial service. We invite you to share your memories of Barry with us on Sunday or here in the guestbook.
