Betsey Marie Kohls (nee Goff) passed away at the age of 47, peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family on Dec 2, 2023. Betsey was born in Elida, OH to Penny and Rick Goff (deceased). She is survived by her husband, Craig, son Drew (16), daughter Lucy (14), sisters Gina Browing (husband Mike) and Wendy Mockabee (husband Gary), niece Brooke Howard, nephew Owen Mockabee, sister-in-law Vicki Chappell (husband John), brother-in-law Scott Kohls, parents-in-law Bob and Connie Kohls, and furry friend, Phoebe McScruffington III.
Betsey graduated from Mason High School in 1994 and received her BSN from Chamberlin College in 2017. Betsey’s caring, empathetic nature, sunny disposition, attention to detail (but questionable math skills) served her well as she started as a medical assistant and progressed through additional schooling to a registered nurse. She provided patient care in dermatology, pediatrics, Mom/baby, and served as a manager in GI and most recently as a nurse educator for TriHealth.
Betsey was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She fought through multiple surgeries, doses of chemotherapy and radiation to keep a sense of normalcy in her life. She is a founding member of THE Pink Pumpkin Committee, which has raised $158,656 over 7 years for Pink Ribbon Good, with their annual Pink Pumpkin Sale. Sadly, cancer returned in 2021 and metastasized to her bones and liver, but did not dimmish her spirit or darken her light.
Betsey touched the lives of countless friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, and patients throughout her life. She inherited her mother’s talent for decorating and was often solicited by friends and family for advice. She loved to attend Drew and Lucy’s sporting events, passionately rooted for the Buckeyes and Bengals, and developed a healthy distain for ttun and the Stealers. Betsey loved the beach and the summertime, initiating vacations, often with family and friends, to warmer, tropical climates.
She will be missed more than words can possibly express, but her life will be celebrated with a Memorial Visitation on Friday December 8, 2023 at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6410 Cincinnati Dayton Rd., Liberty Twp., OH 45044, from 5:00-8:00pm and her ashes will be dedicated at her Funeral Service on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at The River Church, 5546 Cincinnati Dayton Rd., Liberty Twp., OH 45044, at 10:00am.
