Betty Lou (Minton) Knodle

1930 – 2021

Cincinnati – Our beloved mother, Betty Lou Knodle, 90, passed away peacefully, in the loving presence of her children, on Friday, February 5, 2021, following a short hospital stay. We feel very blessed by her long, healthy life; and her “go with the flow” attitude carried her with grace into the Creator’s welcoming arms.

Betty Lou was born March 2, 1930, to the late Frances Rea Minton and Elizabeth Bailey Minton-Neville, and grew up in Washington PA.  She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 70 years, Dr. Frederick Ross Knodle, Jr. They shared the same love of family and nature and a commitment of service to community, work, and church. She loved dogs, playing cards, shopping and hosting family gatherings filled with laughter.

She enjoyed her apartment life at Ohio Living Llanfair, where she was known for her bright smile by the residents and staff. Mom was an example of love and devotion to family. We cherish the Christmas holiday memories, Euchre tournaments, and family reunions as our families grew from six children to include 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Left to carry on mom’s legacy are her three sons, Fred, Bill and Bob (Anne) Knodle and three daughters, Kate Bower, Christine Seidl (Andrew Waterman), and Sue (Steve) Kappen.

Grandchildren: Sarah (Kim) Affolter, Hannah Seidl, Pete Seidl, Elizabeth Knodle (Jason) Houndshell, Lauren Knodle (Luke), Mari Bower (Jeremy Kerth), Robbie Knodle, Brian Knodle, Michael Knodle, Leah (Wynn) Miller, Jenna Kappen, Kirsten Kappen, Claire Kappen

Great-grandchildren:  Christine Robin, Chloe Robin, Benjamin Affolter, Emily Affolter, Abby Affolter, Elke Houndshell, Esther Houndshell, Lucia Kerth, Miles Miller

Hodapp Funeral Home is handling arrangements. A private Mass of Christian Burial is planned at St. Boniface Church 1750 Chase Ave. Cincinnati Ohio, Saturday, February 13, 2021 followed immediately by internment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Bernard, Ohio.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hamilton County Special Olympics or Dohn Community High School in Clifton.  Condolences at hodappfuneralhome.com
