Beverly Anne Stewart Hope

Beverly Anne Stewart was born on May 17, 1928 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her parents were
Sumner Udall Stewart and Sarah Jane Paris.
Her father farmed in Alamo, Nevada and later worked for the city of Las Vegas. He was a hard
worker. Her mother died when Beverly was one year old. Beverly had 10 brothers and sisters:
Ruth, Don, Grant, Paris, Wayne, Helen, Arlene, Kent, Marguerite, and Tom. She also had a half-
brother Evan and several step siblings.
After Beverly’s mother died, her sister Arlene took care of Beverly until Arlene married. Beverly
remembers playing in the desert sand all by herself. She attended Las Vegas High School when
it was the only high school in Las Vegas. After high school, Beverly moved to Denver in 1946
and stayed with her sister, Helen. There she worked and met Leonard Dale Barnes whom she
married.
Dale and Beverly had two children, Catherine and Lawrence "Larry" Barnes. After 21 years of marriage, they
divorced. Catherine has two children, William and Alana. Larry has a daughter Kimberly.
Beverly had a very strong work ethic. She was an excellent bookkeeper. She worked for many
travel agencies, insurance companies and The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, to
name a few.
She had many interests and hobbies including quilting, sewing, gardening, knitting, cooking,
playing bridge, doing genealogy, traveling and watching Broncos’ football.
In Denver she met George Richard Hope and married Dick, as he was known, in 1977. She and
Dick had a very good life together. They moved to Canon City, Colorado and retired there. She
was married to Dick for 36 years. Dick had two children, Pat and Mike. Mike has a daughter
Lauren. Beverly considered them part of her family.
She moved to Ohio after Dick died to live near her daughter, Catherine. Her son Larry died in
May of 2015. She made some close friends at her church in Ohio, The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints.
She was very mentally bright and active her entire 91 ½ years. She passed away December 1,
2019 peacefully in her sleep. She will be buried next to her husband, Dick, at Crown Hill
Cemetery in Wheatridge, Colorado.
She will be missed.
