Brigitte Marianne Klaban, maiden name Stolle
Loving mother of Tomas Klaban and Johanka Hart-Tompkins.
Cherished grandmother of Eric Klaban, Jason Hart, Brian Klaban, Anthony
Hart, Teresa Coats, Brittney Gerbus, and Caroline Tompkins.
Adoring great grandmother of Autumn, Brave, and Adeline Hart; Ryan and
Zachary Klaban; Elsie and Ethan Gerbus.
Brigitte was born on March 15, 1934, in the Bohemian city of Litomerice into a
life of privilege, which also required beauty and grace in difficult times. At age
9 her beloved father, Rudolf, was taken away by SS officers; family and friends
were killed during the holocaust, and attacks by allied and soviet forces. She
became a fierce survivor, singing for our Lord and raising her children in the
Catholic faith regardless of repercussions by the communist party.
The love of her life, Oldrich Klaban, shared her faith and filled her life with
optimism and dreams. Their seventy-year love-story is full of bravery, honor,
and adventure. In the spring of 1964, they and their two small children
escaped under gunfire over the Yugoslav border into Italy. As religiously
persecuted refugees they journeyed from Italy to Germany and eventually to
USA.
In America, Brigitte continued her professional career as accountant and
became a superfan of American football, charming football-greats like Kenny
Anderson and Woody Hays. Yet, her legacy lies with her grand and great-
grandchildren. She never missed a baptism, `birthday, recital or competition
they were involved with. Her love, enthusiasm, and spirit will transcend her
time on earth to future generations.
Sadly, Brigitte passed away on Tuesday August 1, 2023 at age 89.
Please join us in remembering and celebrating this extraordinary woman.
