Carol Jean Rhyner

Carol Jean Rhyner passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at The Christian Village at Mt. Healthy.
She was born February 8, 1933 in California. She was adopted soon after into the loving home
of her late parents Edgar and Vivian Rhyner. Carol always said she had the perfect childhood.
She graduated from Hughes High School and the University of Cincinnati where she majored in
elementary education. She worked on her Masters Degree in the area of Visual Impairment and
taught visually impaired children for 30 years. Carol was instrumental in the organization of the
first class in the United States for slow learning visually impaired children. She was a master
teacher whose students realized their full potential in her classroom.

Carol belonged to Alpha Delta Kappa an Honorary Service Sorority for Women Teachers
for 60 years. She was a “diamond” sister who had served her chapter as president. She also
belonged to Dorcas Chapter #277 Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years where she served
as Chaplain, Martha and Ada. Carol was a faithful member of Northern Hills United Methodist
Church for over 45 years.

Carol spent her final two years at The Christian Village at Mt. Healthy which she called
home. Her family will be ever thankful for the loving care she received there.
She is survived by cousins, Vivian (Tom) Brock, Kristina (Bruce) Petrie, Gail (John) Rotz,
Gary (Barb) Foster, John (Jean) Fuller, Jeanne Fuller, and Mary Woodward.
Carol also had an extended family, Murt (Dick) Trowbridge, Dale (Chris) Trowbridge,
Anne (Stuart) Weinberg, David (Megan) Trowbridge, Judy (Orson) Hornsby, Jeff (Beth) Hornsby,
Mary K. (Mark) Lerch. She was known as Aunt Carol to Dale, Anne, David, Jeff and Mary K.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her cousin Larry (Marilyn)
Fuller.

Services will be held Wednesday, June 2 at Northern Hills United Methodist Church, 6700 Winton Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45224. A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 with the Eastern
Star and funeral service following. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Christian Village at Mt. Healthy, 8097 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45231.
