Carol Lee Guthrie

October 9, 1950 — June 1, 2019

Carol left us too early on June 1, 2019. She was born and raised around the Indianapolis area which always held a special place in her heart.

Carol came to Cincinnati to attend the University of Cincinnati. She received her undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry from UC and an MBA in marketing from Xavier University. After her UC graduation, she worked for Formica for a brief time then went to work for Kenner Toys until their merger with Hasbro. She chose to stay in Cincinnati and accepted a job teaching high school chemistry with Cincinnati Public Schools. Carol was an avid UC basketball and football fan and was known to break out in the UC fight song at the drop of a hat. She also loved her students she taught at Cincinnati Public Schools, especially the students at Aiken High School. Her favorite job was the position as research chemist for Kenner Toys. She liked the creativity and the “out of the box” interaction with her associates. Carol was also a golfer and in spite of some “golf language”, enjoyed the game totally.

We would like to thank the TriHealth Oncology group at the Kenwood location for their support, empathy, and total dedication to helping us through a difficult time. Carol is survived by her partner, Molly, her brother Frank and her nephews, Frank II and Ryan Guthrie.

A “Gathering of Friends” will be held at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6041 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45224 (in College Hill) on Saturday, June 8, 2019, from 1:30 until time of informal service at 3 p.m. at which time friends are invited to share a special memory of Carol.

Memorial donations may be directed to Melanoma Research Foundation, P.O. Box 759329, Baltimore, MD 21275 or the SPCA Cincinnati, 3949 Colerain Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45223.
