ALBERS, Catherine Beatrice (nee Diehl), died at home Wednesday, November 29, 2017. Cathie Albers arrived in the world on Sunday November 1, 1925, coming home to East Mills Avenue, Wyoming, Ohio with her parents Agnes and Harry Diehl. In the time between, Cathie attended St James of the Valley Grade School and Mount Notre Dame High School; ran away to Hollywood (she came back after a few hours); served as Colonel (honorary) in the Xavier University ROTC; earned a Master’s Degree from Xavier University; danced with a python; worked nights in the Hamilton County Morgue; played the violin to her concert pianist father’s dismay; travelled the world; and touched all those who knew her, with her love, compassion, and generosity of spirit. She was a Saint walking the earth. In 1952, Cathie Diehl married John Albers and over the next 14 years they had 10 children together and completed 65 years of a blessed marriage. Her husband, John Albers M.D survives her, as do her children, John, Chris, Mary (Porter), Beth (Hutchinson), David, Jim, Mark, Martha (Stegbauer) and Julie (Luken). Her youngest daughter, Rose Marie, passed away in 1967. 28 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren honor her memory. Visitation will be held at 9 AM Saturday December 2, 2017 at St James of the Valley Church in Wyoming Ohio followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Glenmary Home Missioners or the St. Vincent De Paul Society of Saint James Wyoming, or a health charity of your choice.
