Charles K. Braun

February 27, 1924 — December 11, 2015

BRAUN, Charles K. Born February 27, 1924 in Chicago to Mr. and Mrs. Max Braun.  Beloved husband of Marian (nee Klein), who predeceased him.  Dear brother of Edwin "Bud" Braun of Chicago and Pearl (Harold) Snyder of Rhinelander, WI (both deceased).  Dear step-father for 50 years to Leslie (Tom) Mowry of Wyoming, OH and Jim (Nancy) Anderson of Portland, OR.  Devoted grandfather to Charlie (Katie) Mowry of Elmhurst, IL, Peter (Rebecca) Mowry of Austin, TX, Dr. Abigail Mowry of Akron, OH and Sam Anderson of Portland, OR.  Great-grandfather of six boys.  Chuck proudly served in the Third Army under General Patton in WWII, surviving landings in North Africa, Sicily and Anzio.  He was captured in Anzio and imprisoned in a POW camp in Germany for 15 months.  Upon his return to the U.S., he graduated from the University of Illinois in Pharmacy, a beneficiary of the GI Bill.  He later owned a pharmacy in the Irving Park area of Chicago for many years, and afterward worked in Park Ridge (where he met Marian) and Arlington Heights, Il.  Upon his retirement in 1984, he and Marian moved to Finneytown to be near family.  For the past 10 years, he lived in Evergreen Retirement Community where he enjoyed "holding court" in the lobby each morning, talking to friends, solving the world's problems and drinking coffee, and in the evenings, he played cards or Bingo there.  Every Tuesday, he drove to the Cincinnati Woman's Club in Clifton where he played Canasta and enjoyed lunch "among the ladies".  Chuck passed away December 11, 2015.  A private service will be held for the family.  Memorials may be made to the Veteran's organization of your choice, or to the Staff Fund of the Cincinnati Woman's Club.
