Charles Thomas Watkins

Charles Thomas. Beloved husband of the late Zoie (nee Depes). Loving father of Peggy (Larry) Burns, Tom (Kay) Watkins and the late Karen (Tom) Tapke. Loving grandfather of Craig and Laura Tapke, Amy (Dave) Seilkop, Mikal (Stacey) Steers, Eric (Sarah) Burns, Keri (Scott) Myers, Mandy (Dave) Dunn and Tommy (Nicole) Watkins. Great-grandfather of 14. Dear brother of Shirley (Charles) Brown and brother-in-law of JoAnn Casteel. Charles joined the Navy at age 17 in 1944 serving as an aviation mechanic/rear gunner in Scout Squadron 53 on USS Saratoga (CV-3) and other Aircraft Carriers. He married the love of his life, Zoie, immediately upon returning from the Pacific and started a family. In 1957 he became a Police Officer and after many years of service he retired to become a U.S. Marshall. He continued serving the community through his generosity and kindness with family and friends. Passed March 8, 2014 age 87. Visitation at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6041 Hamilton Ave., College Hill, Tuesday from 10 AM until funeral service at 12 Noon.
