Cynthia A. Shipp

Cynthia (Cindy) A. Shipp, 65, of St. Bernard Ohio, died unexpectedly on May 13, 2022. She is the loved wife of Jerry Shipp Sr. Constant confidant of twin sister Cheryl (Smith) Bently. Proud Mother of Leslie Shipp (Johnson), John Shipp Sr. and stepson Jerry Shipp Jr. Dedicated GG (Goofy Grandma) to her six Grandchildren, Gabe (16), Mya (15), Bing (10), Crosby (7), Johnny (3), and Eleanor (1). Favorite Mother-in-Law to Shondre and Brandy.
Her greatest accomplishment was being a Grandma, but in her work, she was a dedicated Public Servant with nine months shy of 30 years. She worked as a Crossing Guard, Craft Lady, and 911 Dispatcher for the Village of St. Bernard before going full time to the University of Cincinnati’s Department of Public Safety as a 911 Dispatcher. She was involved in Amateur Radio and a member of the Queen City Emergency Net and the OH-KY-IN Amateur Radio Society.
Cindy’s hobbies included bowling, ceramics, indoor and outdoor gardening, diehard Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan, caring for her many beloved dogs and arguing with Richard, reading (ALWAYS had a good murder mystery or romance novel), turning strangers into friends, avoiding aging by maintaining her red locks, making up words and off-color sayings, and stationary expert (a card for EVERY occasion). Favorite activities were playing with grandkids, Reds’ Opening Day, Zoo outings, chilling with a beer or highball, and porch frogging.
Cindy never claimed fame for the Military Mom she was, but she raised three Veterans and continued to raise her Veteran husband.
She died peacefully after a short stay in the UC Medical Center from a massive brain bleed. Death did not interrupt her Public Service as she donated many organs and tissue to patients in dire need thereby living on in others. She was given a Walk of Honor by fellow Dispatchers, Police Officers, Staff, and Family on her way to give her gifts.
Family will hold a service in her honor officiated by Pastor Bill Godby at Hodapp Funeral Home in Carthage, 7401 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH, 45216, on Saturday May 28, 2022 from 9 A.M. until time of funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Friends and Family can help celebrate her life with a Wake at the St. Bernard Eagles immediately following the service.
