Daphine Floyd Hawks passed away Tuesday March 5, 2024 at the age of 96. Daphine was born in Delmer, Kentucky on March 7, 1927 to Electa (Dalton) Floyd and Thomas Thatcher Floyd. She was the beloved wife of Thomas D. Hawks, loving mother to Diane (Ken) Richardson, Thomas Jr. (Stephanie) Hawks and Amy (Toney) McIntosh . She was grandmother to Tara (Matthew) Viens, Tiffany (Jeff) Domagalski, Tai Henson, Heidi (Greg) Lucid, Matthew (Jackie) Hawks, Logan (Steph) McIntosh, Lyndsy (Ben) Glover, Langsten McIntosh, great grandmother to Drew Viens, Elise Viens, Davis (Zoe) Domagalski, Payton (Sunny) Domagalski, Noah Domagalski, Caleb Henson, Ella Henson, Cole Henson, Madalyn (Charles) Mechas, Molly Wiefering, Maria Wiefering, Makena Wiefering. Great grandmother to Milena Hawks, Ian Hawks, Colbi Glover and Cash Glover and great great grandmother to Emerson Domagalski.
Daphine graduated from Trevecca Nazarene High School. She married Thomas Hawks on June 3, 1948. Prior to starting their family, Daphine was employed at Kahn’s in Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the West Chester Nazarene Church (WCN) where she later received the Distinguished Service Award. For years Daphine taught a Sunday School class at the WCN. Her students loved her deep love of the Bible and her personal search for knowledge. She was gifted at memorization and could not only quote many verses from the Bible, but poems, The Gettysburg Address, and other literary works up into her nineties.
Daphine loved to cook and entertain in her home. Her claim to fame was an article in a local paper about her baked Alaska pie. She served it often. She also had a special gift for setting a beautiful table and making her guests feel at home. She was quick with a compliment and a loved a good shopping trip. Her family and friends will miss her gift of making everyone feel special and loved.
Visitation will be held on Saturday March 9, 2024 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at West Chester Nazarene Church with the funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m.
