David W. Phillips

December 24, 1971 — February 3, 2024

Emblem
David W. Phillips, of Hamilton, OH, age 52, passed into eternal rest on February 3, 2024, after a long and valiant battle against cancer. David's condition rapidly deteriorated in the days up to his passing, betraying the hope that his admission to the ER was just another hurdle for him to clear. Friends and family were shocked and saddened by the sudden turn of events, and stung by the loss of a great friend taken far too soon.

David was born in Laurel, MD, and though he graduated from Miami University in Oxford and lived most of his life in the Southwest corner of the State, he was a lifelong, faithful fan of the Scarlet and Gray. He was also a proud Eagle Scout. If you spent any time with Dave, you would have heard innumerable stories about his fraternity brothers at Sigma Tau Gamma at Miami University.  When Dave started a story with, "Me and my fraternity brothers", you knew it was going to be good, but were just a little worried if it was going to be appropriate.  True to form for Dave, he remained close to his fraternity brothers through long years and hundreds of miles.  Once his friend, forever his friend.

Dave embarked on a long and successful career in sales, having spent the last 20 years as Finance and Sales Manager at Worley Auto Sales, working with his fraternity brother and dear friend, Todd Worley.  Dave enjoyed helping people find automobiles, and he enjoyed helping people get financed, but really, Dave just enjoyed helping people.  He knew what a difference a car could make in a person's life.  He never bragged about how many sales he made, or how much money, but he would brag about the hugs he would get when he went to bat for someone and got them in a car.  That's what made him happy.

David is survived by his mother, Kathy, his father David, and his brother Bryan.  He is also survived by an army of friends whom consider him family, and another, smaller army whom knew him as "Uncle Dave"; Paige Worley, Cole Worley, Erica Staderman, Charlotte Staderman, Austin Staderman, Cameron Payler, Alyssa Payler, Aiden O'Rourke, Christos Donohue, and George Donohue. He is the beloved Godfather of David Ramey.  We would be remiss not to mention his great big galoot of a puppy, Shakespeare.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 8, from 6-8 PM at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6410 Cincinnati-Dayton Rd., Liberty Township, Oh, 45044.

A Memorial Service will be held Fri., February 9, at 11 AM at St. John The Evangelist, 9080 Cincinnati-Dayton Rd. West Chester OH, 45069, immediately followed by a luncheon in the Pavilion.

Burial procession will meet at St. Johns at 2:15pm, arriving at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 10209 Plainfield Rd., Blue Ash, OH, 45241.
