STOECKEL (Bittner), Deborah Lynn
Debbie was born on November 17
th, 1963 and raised in Dayton, OH. She was the first of 6 children, all of whom attended Saint Rita Grade School and Chaminade Julienne High School. At an early age Debbie developed incredible friendships, many of which lasted until this day. Her joy in life was to connect with others and live in the moment. Whether it was during high school on the drill team, her fun filled years at Bowling Green (maybe too much), attending her son’s sporting events, vacations with her husband Bill, or her beloved trips to Edinboro Lake with extended family. Nobody was a stranger when Debbie was around.
Besides her family and friends, Debbie’s passion lied in giving back to others, and helping them through struggles she could relate to. As a heart transplant recipient and cancer survivor, Debbie was naturally connected to a community of people that needed support just like her. Through Change of Heart and Pink Ribbon Girls, Debbie was not only able to take advantage of the amazing help these programs offered, but she was also able to give back. Debbie did what she did best, put others before herself. For many years Debbie enjoyed volunteering and being a part of support groups. It gave her a true sense of purpose and showed those around her the true meaning of life, no matter how long or how short.
Anyone who met Debbie knew she was a fighter, someone who never gave up. She was dealt a tough hand in life but through that she showed us your situation is only what you make of it. While it is easy to think her time on this Earth was cut short, she was always so grateful to have a second chance at life after her transplant. That meant more memories with the ones she loved. She inspired countless people and gave them hope. She always leaned on her faith and trusted in God to lead the way.
Debbie now lives on through her parents, Clarence and Judy Bittner, husband William Stoeckel, two sons Matt and Sam Tunnacliffe, siblings Mike Bittner (Robyn), Diane Montgomery, Beth Hale (Dennis), Karen Nartker (Tom), Jeff Bittner (Jane) and many loving extended family and friends.
