Diane Marie Halpin

November 1, 1960 — December 31, 2024

Mason

Diane Marie Halpin, 64, of Mason, OH, died after a heroic battle with breast cancer on December 31, 2024.

She was born in Detroit in 1960 to Robert and Beverly Boyce, who created a beautiful family of 12 children. They had a chaotic home that was filled with love and laughter. She was a great athlete, class president, and loved spending time with her grandparents and cousins. She treasured Christmas morning with her siblings, and could always be found singing Elton John songs in their childhood home. She attended Benedictine High School before studying Physical Therapy at Wayne State University, going on to work at various hospitals and rehab facilities throughout her career.

Diane met her loving husband, Bob, in 1976 at a local McDonalds where they both worked. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married March 12, 1988 in Detroit, MI. They shared 36 wonderful years of marriage together.

Diane and Bob had 4 children together who meant the world to her. Diane was the best mom to Christina, Olivia, Julia & Jimmy. She was a consistent, loving, and faithful mom who always put her kids' needs before her own. Diane loved Christmastime and every year made the holiday incredibly magical with her special traditions, huge meals, and carefully selected presents under the tree. More than anything, Diane loved her kids and was always there for them.

Even while battling breast cancer, Diane was an extremely active and present grandma to her 5 grandkids who she treasured deeply. She loved her role as grandma and was always showing up to care for, play, and spoil them. Diane was always filled with energy and somehow managed to keep up with 5 young grandkids, whether it was swimming, baking, running around at the park, or reading endless books on the couch. She was quick to help her children as they became parents, and will continue to serve as an example of what it means to be a mother and grandma.

Diane had a soft spot for her beloved dogs, Griffey and Bo, who could always be found curled up by her side.

Diane spent lots of time with her 11 siblings, communicating in their family group text, and taking trips to Michigan with her sisters. She loved spending time with her friends, specifically her church community, attending plays at the Aronoff and participating in book club.

Diane was passionate about her role as a Physical Therapist working at various hospitals throughout her career. She had a heart to help others and was extremely dedicated to her work.

Diane was an active member of Northeast Church of Christ, devoting her time and energy to Family Promise and City Gospel Mission.

Diane lived an active life, even while battling breast cancer. She loved to walk and even walked the Portland Marathon in 2005. She loved reading and every night could be found on the couch with a book and a cup of coffee. Diane was a huge fan of the Detroit Lions and cheered them on every chance she got.

Diane will always be remembered for her caring nature and sacrificial heart. She had a deep faith and belief in Jesus that was evident throughout her whole life, even through her courageous battle with breast cancer. We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, sister, mom, grandma and friend, and will miss Diane every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Beverly Boyce, and is survived by her husband Bob, her 3 daughters Christina, Olivia, & Julia, her son Jimmy, her grandchildren Sophia, Leon, Beau, Brady, & Florence, and her 11 siblings.
