Donald Scott Adams

April 29, 1960 — January 31, 2025

Cincinnati

Donald Scott Adams of Cincinnati died on Friday, January 31, 2025 at age 64.

He is survived by his beloved children Sam Adams, Shelly (Ben) Wick and Allison (Wes) Higgs, and by his former wife, Carol Adams.

He is also survived by his siblings Kimberly Jones, Terry Adams, Sharon Waitkus, Tim (Jennifer) Adams, Dr. Darren “Chad” Adams, Jon (Lee) Adams and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Donald and Joan Adams, his sister, Virginia Simpson and his brother, Kris Adams.

Scott was born in Covington, Kentucky on April 29, 1960. He spent his childhood living along the Little Miami River before the family moved to Maineville, where he was Prom King and Salutatorian of Kings High School. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Cincinnati and remained an avid Bearcat fan for the rest of his life. After college he worked at Procter and Gamble, where he spent his entire career as a hard working and respected Senior Engineer before he retired after 34 years.

Scott had a legendary, ornery sense of humor, and he'll be remembered as whip-smart and a friend to everyone he met. He loved music of all kinds but especially classic rock - he was the DJ at every party and he took great joy in listening to music together and sharing his encyclopedic knowledge with others. He also loved classic cars, a result of spending his youth around them at his father's gas station and the drag strip. Scott had a heart of gold and had a sweet spot for animals, especially his two beloved cats, Mason and Blu.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6 from 4-6 pm at Hodapp Funeral Home in Carthage. A short service to honor his life will be at 6 at the funeral home. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the St. Bernard Eagles.

Scott struggled with his mental health for a long time. While the family is finding comfort in happy memories and funny stories, it's also important to them to be open and honest about his struggles and to convey the importance of mental health care and access.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Scott's name to Mental Matters Mission, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing mental health services to underprivileged and underfunded youth.
