Dorothy Ellis Russell

Dorothy Ellis (Williams) Russell, 87, of Nebraska City, NE. died Monday, June 28, 2010 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City, NE. Dorothy was born on August 21, 1922 in Mount Sterling, KY to Sim and Jennie Lee (Walls) Williams. She was raised, schooled, and graduated from high school in Cincinnati (Elmwood), OH. After high school Dorothy worked as a business assistant. She married H. Reid Russell in November 20, 1942 in Somerset, KY. Dorothy then became a homemaker and mother. At the start of the Korean War in 1951, Dorothy gained employment with General Electric in Evendale, OH as a Tool & Gauge Inspector and was instrumental in the manufacturing of jet engines. Dorothy continued to work for General Electric for 33 years, until she retired in 1985. After retirement she became the care giver for her father, mother, and her husband Reid. After the death of her mother Jennie, Dorothy moved to northern Virginia, during the summer of 2002 to be near her son, Ron and his wife Sharon. When her son’s family moved to Nebraska, Dorothy then moved to the Morton House and later the Ambassador, both in Nebraska City, NE. She is a former member of the Eastern Star in Cincinnati, OH for 25 years. Dorothy is survived by her son, Ronald R. Russell and his wife Sharon of Beaver Lake, NE; three grandchildren; Kristen J. Russell of Chapel Hill, NC, 1LT Christopher J. Russell and his wife Roxanne of Bellville, IL; and Jordan D. Russell, attending James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA; niece, Karen Edelmann and her husband Ed of Tarrytown, NY; and numerous cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sim and Jennie Williams, brother, 2LT James H. Williams, US Army Air Corps, who died during WWII on October 25, 1943. Visitation at the Hodapp Funeral Home, Carthage, Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until time of funeral service at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Donald Stowell officiating. Pallbearers will be Ron Russell, 1LT Christopher J. Russell, Jordan D. Russell, Roger Russell, Ray Russell, and Ed Edelmann. Final resting place will be the Oak Hill Cemetery in Sharonville, OH. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to be sent to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
