In Loving Memory of Earl Franklin Malone
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Earl Franklin Malone, who peacefully left this world on December 6, 2023, surrounded by family at the Barrington Retirement Village. Earl's departure has left a void in our lives, but his memory will forever be cherished.
Earl was born on June 18, 1934, in Tell City, Indiana to his loving parents, Hettie and Frank Malone. He grew up in Tell City, where he attended Tell City High School and later pursued higher education. During his high school years, Earl's passion for music led him to become the talented drummer of the Tell City High School band, leaving a lasting impression on his peers.
In 1952, Earl joined the US Air Force, proudly serving his country for four years, including a deployment to Korea. Earl's dedication and commitment earned him an honorable discharge, and he returned home to continue his journey.
After his military service, Earl worked alongside his father in maintaining cars, eventually establishing his own successful service business. His expertise and passion for mechanics led him to become the esteemed auto mechanic teacher at Tell City High School for six years, where he imparted his knowledge to countless students.
Earl's dedication to his community extended beyond the classroom. At the young age of 24, he embarked on a career in public service, serving four terms on the Tell City Council. Earl's unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others was evident throughout his time in office. He enjoyed his time as a member of the Tell City Jaycees.
In 1955, Earl found his lifelong partner in Sandra Malone. They exchanged vows at St. Paul Church in Tell City, beginning a beautiful journey together. Earl and Sandra shared 68 years of love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another, creating a strong foundation for their family.
Earl will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his four children: Scott (Judy) Malone, Stacy (Henry) Larsen, Steve (Kathryn) Malone, and Sally (Bart) Mulzer. While we mourn the loss of his beloved son Sam (Connie) Malone, we find solace in the cherished memories they shared together. Earl's legacy continues through his grandchildren: Lauren, Allie, Abby, Jillian, Morgan, Logan, Maddie, Mitchell, Samantha, and Mallory. His great-grandchildren, Lucy, Maya, Hendrik, Joanna, Griffin, Annie, and Sonaya, will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the Malone family kindly requests that donations be made to JDRF in honor of Earl Franklin Malone.
