LTC Edward Stanley Maj, (Ret.USA) died peacefully on February 14, 2023 at the age of 99. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve, of 61 years and his son John. Survivors are his sons, Edward and Thomas(Jennifer); daughter, Mary, Barbara (Michael) Simone, Anne (Dan) Robinson; grandfather to Matthew (Karen) Simone, Katherine Simone and Gabriella Maj. He is also survived by his sister, Clara Kovach, and nieces and nephews. He had served as an enlisted man during World War II. One of his last assignment was to serve on the ROTC Staff at Xavier University. He retired from active duty in 1967 after 21 years of active service. He was a member of the Officers Association of America. He was a graduate of the University of Dayton, and received Masters degrees from Syracuse University and Xavier University. Upon retirement from the Army, he pursued a second career, of 42 years, as a fund raiser, primarily for educational institutions. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. James of the Valley 411 Springfield Pike, Wyoming, Monday, March 6th at 11AM. In lieu of flowers memorials donations may be directed to the LTC and Mrs. Edward S. Maj Endowment Fund at Mt. St. Mary’s seminary for the education of Seminarians. Mt.
