Edward “Spike” J. Schultz, 79, of Cincinnati died Sunday May 7 of complications of Alzheimer's. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marlene. A retired dentist who practiced in the Wyoming/Hartwell area, Ed graduated from St. Xavier High School, Xavier University and Creighton University School of Dentistry where he served many years on the alumni advisory board. He served in the U.S. Navy for two years as a dentist. He loved gardening and tennis and played competitively in high school, college and dental school. Ed was a loving husband and father and will be remembered for his quick wit and gentle spirit. Survivors in addition to his wife include four children Amy Reuthe, Sally Schultz (Danielle Minson), E.J. Schultz (Elizabeth Lapena-Schultz), Gretchen Gilbert (Mark Gilbert); three sisters Sylvia Johanning, Lynn Hartwig and Karen Schultz; and four grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held Friday, May 12 at Holy Cross-Immaculata church in Mt. Adams at 10:30 a.m., with visitation at 9:30 a.m. Donations can be made to Mt.
