Ehrma Gay Naylor

Ehrma Gay Naylor, beloved wife of Jim Naylor, loving mother of Roger (Michele) Naylor and Susan (Rick) Mortensen, passed away May 18, 2023, at the age of 87. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. 

Gay was a farm girl from Kentucky with a kind, generous heart. She found love in Ohio but never strayed far from her roots. A wonderful cook, and a baker of pies and cakes, no one ever went hungry when Gay was around. She doted on babies and children, from family members to friends to kids in the neighborhood. She cared for and watched out for all little ones everywhere.

She applied that same sweetness to her garden and yard, which teemed with birds and squirrels and chipmunks and deer. Gay welcomed them all, leaving out food and delighting over their antics. Her flowerbeds overflowed with colorful bouquets of blooms in an array of colors, her special passion. What a happier world it would be if more people followed Gay’s example and prioritized babies and birds and chipmunks and flowers and good food on the table. A cheerful home, connected to nature, and filled with love—that was Gay’s very special gift. 

Gay was a longtime member of Serenity Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Friday, May 26, 2023, at Serenity Baptist Church 9000 Cox Rd, West Chester Township, OH 45069 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
