Elizabeth M. "Lisa" Blume-Thamann

April 18, 1956 — March 17, 2025

Cincinnati, OH

Elizabeth "Lisa" Marie Blume-Thamann, 68, of Cincinnati, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 17, 2025, with her beloved husband by her side. Born on April 18, 1956, in Cincinnati, Lisa lived a life full of warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Walter S. Blume and Elizabeth M. Blume, and the cherished sister of Therese Kuhn, Mary Blume, Walt Blume (Sundy) and Cathy Brinkman (Tim). Lisa was preceded in death by her parents and her dear sister, Therese.

A proud graduate of Regina High School, Lisa went on to attend the University of Cincinnati, where she pursued some college coursework. #GoBearcats Her education laid the foundation for a life marked by intelligence, creativity, curiosity and a deep desire to explore the world – Lisa absolutely loved to travel and often reminisced about her time spent outside of the country.

A true Daddy’s girl, Lisa shared a deep and special bond with her father, Walter, a pioneering inventor and founder of The Electrodyne Company. Lisa carried forward his legacy with pride and purpose, serving as an executive at Electrodyne from August 1996 to June 2013. Her leadership and dedication were a testament to the inventive spirit her father embodied. There is comfort in knowing Lisa is now reunited with him – a joyful homecoming for two kindred souls.

Lisa’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Mack Norman Thamann, a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served with the Seabees during the Vietnam War, and her children – three sons: John (Amanda), Chris (Blair), and Steven (Victoria) Leighton – along with three beloved bonus children: Brian (Heather) Thamann, Kristie (Brent) Bedgood, and Michael Thamann. Lisa also held a special place in her heart for Ruiqi Ma, who was like a son to her. Currently serving in the U.S. Air Force, Ruiqi remained a constant source of pride and love in Lisa’s life.

She was a proud and loving “Boy Grandma” to her cherished grandsons: Max, Jack, and Luke (John); Carson, Owen, and Nolan (Chris); and Stephen, Austin, Nathan, Luke, and Thomas (Steven). Lisa was also blessed with a host of bonus grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life: Marissa, Olivia, Andrew, and Easton (Brian); Arriana, Poetrie, and Parker (Kristie); and Dominic, Destiny “Moon,” and Delilah (Michael) and her great-grandson, Colton (Dominic and Amanda), who added another generation of love to her legacy.

Lisa also had a vibrant and stylish spirit. She enjoyed the finer things in life – having her hair and nails done, dressing to impress, slipping into her favorite stilettos, and turning heads wherever she went. She loved to travel, shop, and dine, savoring the little luxuries that brought color and fun to her days. One of her favorite places to unwind was her family’s beachfront property in Longboat Key, Florida, where she cherished quiet moments by the ocean and the simple joy of sunny days at the shore. Her elegance and flair were matched only by her warmth and wit, and she brought beauty and joy into every room she entered.

She will be remembered for her kind spirit, her boundless love, and the way she made every gathering feel like home. Lisa had a quiet strength, a deep well of wisdom, and a gentle nature that left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.

Fittingly, Lisa left this world on St. Patrick’s Day – her final farewell, an Irish Goodbye of sorts. Never one for long goodbyes, she slipped away with grace, sparing those she loved from the heartache of drawn-out farewells. Just like in life, she made her exit simple and without fanfare, not to upset her beloved Mack, but instead to let the love and laughter of their time together remain the focus. Lisa’s love and light live on in all who knew her.

Per Lisa’s wishes, a simple graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in St. Bernard (701 E Ross Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45217) on Friday, March 28th at 11:00 AM. All those who wish to attend are asked to meet just inside the gate at 10:45 AM. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. – Irish Blessing
