LAKES, Ellis Ray passes away peacefully with his loving and caring wife by his side on April 10, 2014. Ellis was the oldest of 6 children to Homer and Martha Lakes. He served 4 years in the U.S. Army in Korea and Japan. In 1951, he married Faye Ellen Metcalfe and they had 7 children. He retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1986 after 28 years. Following retirement, he and Faye bought a small farm in Lebanon, OH. They owned pacer horses and he enjoyed 18 years of racing at the Lebanon Raceway. He leaves his wife of 62 years and his six children: Lynda Les, Amy (Mike) Glenn, Kim (Dave) McCullough, Pam (Jeff) Markland and Bobby (Lisa) Lakes. He also leave 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; as well as brothers and sisters Bob, Hazel, Freida, Henry and Shirley. Services will be held on April 15, 2014, 10 a.m. at the Otterbein Chapel with burial at Darrtown Cemetery. Hodapp handling all arrangements. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. or to the Otterbein Benevolent Fund.
