Elmer J. Schlechtinger

SCHLECHTINGER, Elmer J, passed away October 30, 2010 surrounded by his family at age 82. He married Dorothy Jean Knollman on April 29, 1950. They lived most of their life in Cincinnati, OH. He worked for Sigman Lighting Company for 15 years, the Kroger Company for 13 years and the Hamilton County Developmental Disability Services, formerly the Board of Mental Retardation for 10 years. He spent 26 years at St. Margaret Mary in NCH. That is where he served as Cub Master for 9 years with Cub Scouts Pack #183 and at the same time helped with the Boy Scouts Troop #393. He retired from the Board of Mental Retardation on May 31, 1998. Elmer and Dottie did a lot of traveling and spent their winters in Texas. They did this for the last 15 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Schlechtinger, his children Elaine (Frank) Borgemenke, of Morrow, OH, Susan (Edward) Eilers of Florence, KY, Joseph (Connie) Schlechtinger of Ross, OH, Donald (Vicki) Schlechtinger of Green Twp, OH, Debra (Kent) Rhoades of Monfort Heights, OH, and David (Pamela) Schlechtinger of Fairfield, OH, his grandchildren, Tina (Dan) Michels, Matthew (Kelly) Eilers, Jeffrey (Mary) Eilers, Gregory (Jaime) Eilers, Jamie (Tim) Anderson, Erin Schlechtinger, Andrea (Brandon) Hardewig, Janah (Randy) Stuerenberg, Lindsey Schlechtinger, Brandon Schlechtinger, Jessica (Brian) Iams, Grayson Rhoades, Dawn (Charles) Schwartz and Sherri Schlechtinger, the late Bethie “Boodles” Borgemenke, 12 great-grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Elmer was the dearest friend to Mary Ann and the late Jack Osborne, Sylvia Jane and Robert Opp and Geraldine and the late Lawrence Knollman.
