Eric (Ric) Wayne McDaniel

Mc DANIEL, Eric (Ric) Wayne, age 42 of Hillsboro, died suddenly August 11, 2010, in Houston, TX, of complications due to diabetes and renal failure. He was returning to Ohio from a trip to California with his mother. Ric was born June 16, 1968, in Cincinnati, OH. Devoted son of Carol and the late William Mc Daniel. Loving brother of Patti (Mike) Bielak, Vicki (Ernie) Carrier, Becki (Jim) Proffitt, Mark (Cheri) Mc Daniel and Tami (Jeff) Richards. Beloved grandson of the late Leroy and Dorothy Wilson and Joseph and Polla Mc Daniel. Uncle and great uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Ric was a big OSU fan. He appreciated the wonderful people of Hillsboro, especially the staff at Highland District Hospital (the ER staff knew him on a first-name basis), EMS crew and several different dialysis centers. He truly appreciated all the caring people with whom he came into contact. What many will remember about Ric, though, is that he had a wonderful sense of humor especially in telling a story, with his very dry wit and hilarious imagery. He was loving and kind and will be greatly missed as he was a joy to know. Although the last 20 years of Ric’s life were a medical challenge, he never appeared bitter and faced them with a smile on his face and his sense of humor intact. He was a deeply spiritual person who received much strength from God these 20 years. Visitation at Hodapp Funeral Home, 7401 Vine St., Carthage, Monday from 11 a.m. until funeral service at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. or Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
