BOEHM, Esther (nee Bauer). Beloved wife of the late Paul J. Boehm, loving mother of Paul (Donna) Boehm and Susan (Donald) Maier, cherished grandmother of Meredith and Madelyn Maier, dear sister of Marvin (Marjorie) Bauer. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the age of 85.
Esther lived most of her life in St. Bernard, graduated from Our Lady of Angels High School in 1952, and then became a dental hygienist for Dr. Stickley. Family was the driving force in Esther’s life. She created a warm and lovely home where friends and family were always welcome. She became a very active member of the Roger Bacon Band Boosters organization, and attended all local and out of state competitions. She continued attending the Roger Bacon Band Boosters ladies “Lunch Bunch” for at least 20 years to maintain old friendships.
Esther was also very involved in a support role to her husband Paul during his years in St. Bernard politics.
Esther really enjoyed being in charge of the Boehm summer family picnic. She loved making phone calls to determine who was coming and what they were bringing.
Esther cherished her two granddaughters Meredith and Madelyn. They were the joy of her life. She was also a very generous donor to Oldenburg Academy from where Meredith and Madelyn graduated and Roger Bacon High School as well.
Esther took pride and joy in keeping her house spotlessly clean. In addition to her weekly cleaning routine, she performed the traditional spring and fall house cleaning.
In recent years, Pat, Esther’s caregiver, entered her life and a beautiful friendship blossomed to the point where she referred to Pat as a daughter. Pat was so instrumental in keeping mom in the home she loved and where was very happy.
