Ethel Mary Whitaker was called home by God February 14, 2022, at the age of 83.
Ethel was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, the oldest daughter of late parents Wendel and Ethel (nee Gruter) Lachmann. Other family members preceding her are beloved daughter Elizabeth Sharp (nee Schumacher), sister and brother-in-law Dolores and Clifford Bosken, sister-in-law Peggy Lachmann and brother-in-law Mel Wimmer. Those left to cherish memories of Ethel include her daughter Thale (Mike) Wilberding, son-in-law Steve Sharp, brothers Jim Lachmann and Gene (Mary Beth) Lachmann, sisters Marge Wimmer and Cindy (Frank) Moeggenberg, 7 adored grandchildren Sam (Lauren) Sharp, Ben (Heather) Sharp, Stevie (Nachum) Wagschal, Madeline Wilberding, Maxwell Wilberding, Michael Wilberding, and Matthew Wilberding, and 7 precious great-grandchildren Michael, Samantha, Abigail, Courtney, Kalia, Sara, and Zoey, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ethel was a warm and kind soul who loved the sunshine, country music and show tunes, golf, good food and wine, following politics, participating in the St. Philip’s Seniors Group, and was a former mayor and successful business owner. Above all she loved spending time with family and friends. Ethel’s legacy is her devotion to God, her faith, and her family who she was so proud of and adored.
Visitation will be held at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati Columbus Rd.(Tr 42), West Chester, OH 45069, on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 5 PM – 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 944 East US 22, Morrow, OH 45152, on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 10:30 AM.
