Flavia T. Aeschbacher

d. March 31, 2010

AESCHBACHER, Flavia T., age 89, passed away in her sleep on Tuesday night, March 31. A beloved mom and grandmother, she will be greatly missed. Flavia was born on December 27, 1920 in Crawfordsville, IN, but was always a pretty good sport about having a birthday so close to Christmas. She was the only child of Victor and Keitha Tharp. She grew up in Kansas City, KS, and was a proud Cornhusker, graduating from the University of Nebraska in 1942. She was an active member of Pi Beta Phi and an officer of the Mortar Board honorary society. While at Nebraska she met Bill Aeschbacher. They were married on December 20, 1944, and were happy together until Bill’s passing in 1998. Flavia was the proud mother of three boys, Bill, Bob and Steve, and the proud grandmother of 5–Max, Mason, Annie, Gracie and Ari, and great-grandmother of Zoe. She was an active docent at the Taft Museum for many years, a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Finneytown for over 40 years, served as a deacon at Northminster, and was active in University Women and many other groups. She loved to travel, attend Elder Hostels, read, play bridge, walk, do yoga, and was an inquisitive life-long learner. She was a marvelous example of how to live life with humor, good spirits, a wry skepticism, and an open mind. She is survived by Bill, Bob and Janice, Steve and Alice, and her grandchildren and great-grandchild. We love you mom/grandma/x! A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 703 Compton Rd., Finneytown at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please give a memorial to Taft Museum.
