Fred A. Mathews

MATHEWS, Fred A., beloved husband of Georgetta (nee Salyers) for 49 years. Dear father of Kevin (Ann) Mathews and Kelly (Jay) Frost. Grandfather of Sean (Felicia) Young, Nick (Megan) Mathews, Molly Mathews and Hunter Frost. Great-grandfather of Charlie and Jayden. Brother of the late James P (survived by Judy) Mathews. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at the age of 72. Fred was a police officer in Elmwood Place for 17 years and was a former councilman and mayor. He also worked at the College of Mount St. Joe as a public safety officer. Visitation will be held at the Hodapp Funeral Home, 7401 Vine St., Carthage on Monday, Dec. 26 from 4 p.m. until time of the Norwood #576 F&AM Scottish Rite Ring Service and the FOP #113 services at 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 210 Jefferson Ave., St. Bernard, 45217, Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation.
