West Chester, Ohio - Geraldine Severance, age 76, died peacefully on Sunday October 7, 2018.
Geri was born January 10, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Preceded in death by her parents, Lewis McAninch and Desdie (Ralston) McAninch. Geri is survived by her husband Walter Severance of 53 years. Daughter, Cindy (Jeff) Mizer of Maineville, OH. Grandchildren J.J. and Courtney Mizer of Maineville, OH. Son, Jason Severance of Manchester, CT. Sister, Joan Fischer of Maineville, OH.

GERI’S LIFE: She went to Ohio University in 1960 to become a teacher, but had to leave in her 2nd year to care for her parents. Geri was hired by Proctor & Gamble in 1962. In 1965 she married Walt Severance. Two years later Cindy was born.  Walt and Geri still live in the West Chester home built for them in 1969. While pregnant with Jason, Geri chose to leave P&G to raise both of her children. A few years later she worked as a preschool teacher at The Learning Place in Mason. Geri got to see Jason earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Cindy graduated from Miami University in 1989, and married Jeff Mizer the following year. Jason graduated from Ohio University in 1995. Once both kids completed college, Geri returned to P&G as a Lab Technician. She would work an additional 15 years before retiring in 2011 at age 69. She was proud to see her Grandchildren go to college. JJ graduated from Miami University in May, and Courtney is attending the University of Cincinnati.

Geri and Walt spent their honeymoon at Myrtle Beach. She loved to take family vacations. Some of these trips include Gatlinburg, Tennessee; Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral; Sanibel Island, Florida (30th Wedding Anniversary); The Grand Ole Opry; Branson, Missouri; Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee; Washington, D.C.; Ground Zero Memorial, New York City; Wildwoods Boardwalk and Atlantic City, New Jersey; Martha’s Vineyard; Cape Cod (50th Wedding Anniversary); and several trips to Disney World. Geri and Walt spent over 30 years on vacation with her Sister Joan and Brother-in-law Bill Fischer at Walloon Lake, Michigan. Geri also loved to cook and arrange for large family gatherings. She even attended several Ralston Family Reunions with her cousin Judy and Paul Meeks to learn and share family history. God blessed her life with a loving husband, two wonderful children, and two grandchildren that were the apple of her eye, as well as her precious sister Joan, whom she loved and admired all her life.

Visitation will be held at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8851 Cincinnati Columbus RD., West Chester, Ohio, on Thursday October 11 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service on Friday October 12 at 10:00 AM. Burial at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio.
