UTZ, Gertrude Ellen (nee Bernert). Beloved wife of the late Eugene J. Utz. Loving mother of Eugene J. Utz II, Gary Lee (Donna) Utz M.D., Marcia (Tom) Scott and Marianne (Kerry Sahms) Utz-Sahms. Devoted grandmother of Evan (Peggy Shelton) Utz, Catie (Steve Bock) Utz Bock, Emily (Mike O'Donnell) Cline, Ashley Scott, Ryan (Emily) Utz, Lauren (Jake Reed) Utz, Olivia Utz, Alec Utz, Maggie Sahms and the late Christina Scott. Dear great-grandmother of Connor Cline, Kaylee Cline, Jayden Lyons, Gabriel Crawford, Jackson Bock, Olivia Bock, Grace Bock, Hannah Scott and Jamieson Reed. Loving Sister of Irene Sutliff. Mother-in-law to Midge Utz. Aunt to David Carson. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her mother and father, Walter and Blanche Bernert, and siblings Walter Bernert, James Bernert, Charles Bernert, Richard Bernert, Edward Bernert, Marguerite Litmer, Florence Bernert, Kathryn Bernert, and Ruth Stagaman. A graduate of St. Mary's High School (1942). Gertrude spent her life caring for others and will be remembered for her devotion to her family and friends, her boundless faith in God and her sense of humor. Gert served many charities as a volunteer but was particularly fond of her work at Mercy Hospital in Mariemont. She loved playing bridge and caring for her gardens and birds. Gert passed peacefully on May 31, 2017. Age 92. Friends may call at the Hodapp Funeral Home, 7401 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45216 on Wednesday, June 7th from 5:00-8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 8th, 10:30 AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 3105 Madison Road, Cincinnati, OH 45209.
