Gregory Alan Sowders

June 27, 1950 — August 29, 2024

Gregory Alan Sowders, a resident of the West Chester community, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on June 27, 1950, Greg was a dedicated husband, father, and Papa. A fighter through and through his strength, resolve, and never-give-up attitude guided his life and inspired those around him. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy “Margaret” Slade-Sowders; his children, Scott Sowders, Kim Sowders, and Todd Sowders (Deana); and his adoring grandchildren, Kali Jones, Carlos Jones, Darian Sowders, Mackenzie Sowders, and James Sowders. Greg is also remembered by his sister, Denise Glaab (Bill); his sister-in-laws, Sandi Banks (Ken) and Pam Gustafson (Andy); his nieces and nephews; and his extended family Berny Wittek (and family). He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Patricia Sowders, and his beloved grandson, John Sowders. Greg was a proud veteran of the Army National Guard and lifelong entrepreneur. During his time leading his transport company, he was able to travel to all but one state and loved sharing stories and pictures of his journeys with friends and family. When not working, he enjoyed spending time with his family fishing in Wisconsin and Michigan. His kindness, support, and dedication to his family and friends were evident to all who knew him. His memory will be deeply cherished by them. Per his request a celebration to honor his life will be held on September 21, 2024, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, at the Beckett Lakes Clubhouse, 8400 Prairie Lake Blvd, West Chester, OH 45069. Friends and family are welcome to attend and celebrate his legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Freestore Foodbank, as Greg strongly believed that no child should ever go hungry. He will be profoundly missed and remembered with love and admiration.
