Harold (Hal) Russell Thornton left this world and went home to be with the Lord on August 10, 2017.
He was born in Richmond, Virginia on November 17, 1953. His family relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1970. He is survived by his parents Buddy and Virgina Thornton of Holiday, Florida. His wife of nearly 40 years, Carolyn (CJ) Jane Thornton, son Harold Robert Thornton (Kendra), daughter Heather Carolyn Collins (Gary), son Daniel Elliott Thornton and grandchildren Adam Lucas Keach, Katherine Elizabeth Keach and Madeline Rae Thornton. Brother of Sandra Rennick of FL., and Robin (Patrick) Dye of MO.
Hal was a devoted husband. Every Friday he brought a bouquet of flowers home for CJ. He recently surprised the love of his life with a vow renewal using their greeting cards exchanged through the years as decorations for the celebration. Though he passed just before their 40th anniversary, he left her a lifetime of memories on which to reflect.
Hal was an avid Nascar fan. His hobby was collecting Harley Davidson memorabilia and old motorcycles. He loved listening to his “angel voiced” daughter sing and discussing cars with his sons.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 12th from 10 AM until Funeral Service at 12 Noon at West Chester Presbyterian Church 8930 Cincinnati Dayton Rd. West Chester, Ohio 45069. In honor of Hal, participants are asked to wear orange or blue, their best Harley or Nascar T-Shirt
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Dayton or West Chester Presbyterian Church Deacons Fund.
