Harvey Green Snowden

Maj. Harvey G. Snowden passed away on Sunday, December 10th, 2023, at the VA of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on December 6th, 1938, he was the second child of Pauline and Virgil Snowden. Harvey is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty (Hill) Snowden; two sons, Chris (Jen) Snowden and Kyle (Sarah) Snowden; and younger sister, Virgie Snowden. He was preceded in death by his older sister, Bonnie (Bud) Longfellow. Harvey was the grandfather of Madison, Connor, Kennedy, Caleb, and Abby Snowden.

After graduating from Norwood High School in Cincinnati, he joined the US Army. His bravery during multiple tours in the Vietnam War earned him a Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart, along with recognition as a Sharpshooter and a Parachutist. Following his retirement in 1981, he continued public service with the US Postal Service and Internal Revenue Service. Harvey also earned a B.S. in Business from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, KY. A devoted family man, avid golfer, and tournament bass fisherman, Harvey never met a stranger, and we hope he is on a boat throwing a spinner bait somewhere.

Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, VA. A celebration of life will be held in January; for additional details, reach out to the family.
