Helen Harriet Gangloff

August 29, 1926 — April 7, 2014

GANGLOFF, Helen Harriet (Ultsch), 87, died April 7, 2014 with her family by her side. Helen was a beloved daughter born on August 29, 1926 in Cincinnati, OH to her parents, the late William (Bill) Ultsch and the late Alma (Ultsch) Schwalbach. She was also a loving sister to Bill Ultsch and the late Bob Ultsch. She married her husband James (Jim) Albin Gangloff on June 15th, 1946. They were loving partners for over 45 years until his death in 1991. Helen and Jim had five children, and she was a devoted mother and confidante. Helen was instrumental in starting the family business, The Cincinnati Ice Machine Company. She founded the company with her husband Jim in addition to raising their family together. Over the years, Helen was very involved in the Catholic Church and her parish, St. Aloysius Gonzaga. Her children all attended St. Al’s. She enjoyed volunteering as a cafeteria helper, serving as a Brownie and Cub Scout Leader, and attending PTA meetings. For many years and at the time of her death, Helen was the President of the St. Al’s Seniors and also President of the Rosary Altar at the church. Her grandchildren have fond memories of attending events at the parish with her, including the festivals and children’s bingos. Helen was also a recent President of the St. Ignatius Seniors and was an acting Board Member of the group at the parish. Helen, Jim, her children and grandchildren all enjoyed spending time together at their family retreat in Milan, Indiana. Many special events and family gatherings were held here together over the years. Helen also enjoyed spending time at home, gardening in her yard, feeding “her” birds, and “hanging out” with her dog, Bailey. Her family wrote, “Helen’s generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to her family, friends, and everyone who knew her. She lived her life serving as an example of love and care. She was a woman of deep faith who rooted her beliefs with God. She was a pillar of strength to our family and will be greatly missed.” Helen is survived by her five children, her son Jim Gangloff (daughter-in-law Patty), daughter Judi Gangloff-Jenkins (son-in-law Scott and son-in-law the late Rick Kilgore), son Chuck Gangloff (daughter-in-law the late Barb Gangloff), daughter Helen (Missy) Rutenschroer (son-in-law Steve), and son Bill Gangloff (daughter-in-law the late Paula Gangloff).
