Henry H. Unruh, Jr. August 16, 1936 – June 9, 2020 Henry “Hank” Unruh, first generation American son of German immigrants Margaret and Henry Unruh, entered into the heavenly realm surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 9th, 2020. Henry was born on August 16, 1936 in Reedley, CA, attended school in Kingsburg, and worked the family farm until he joined the Air Force at the age of 18. He completed basic training in Biloxi, MS, served in Guam, and was stationed at March AFB in Riverside County, CA. At the age of 30, Henry moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he met and married Patricia Breen. He worked for Lucky Markets and Trixler Brothers as a young man and had a successful career in advertising sales with the Pacific Bell Yellow Pages until he retired in 1994. He and his wife Pat raised their family in San Jose, CA and moved to the Cincinnati area in March of 2000.
Hank was an avid woodworker, loved golf and camping and was often in the kitchen cooking up
something delicious. He especially enjoyed a good game of hearts and was known for his
storytelling, “Did I ever tell you the one about…?”

Whinery; daughters, Karen (Tim) DeRosett and Megan (Jason) Markantes; grandchildren, Jeremey
and Zachary Taylor, Cody and Holly DeRosett, Bethany Flores, Nathan Whinery, John and Dana
Whinery; sisters, Helen Stone and Olga Strid and a number of great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Margaret Unruh; sisters Katherine Schultz and Ann
Schwabenland; and grandson Graeme Whinery.
We will miss him dearly and look forward to the day we can all be together again. “Do not let your
heart be troubled. You have put your trust in God, put your trust in Me also. There are many rooms
in My Father’s house. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going away to make a place for
you. After I go and make a place for you, I will come back and take you with Me. Then you may be
where I am.” John 14:1-3 NLV
