Ilo Lavaun (Perry) Wiant, 78, went home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2019, after fighting cancer for several years. She was born January 3, 1941 to Kenneth and Hazel (Johnson) Perry at their farm house on Perry Road, Cable, OH. Ilo married Thomas J. Wiant on June 25, 1961 at Jenkins Chapel, Cable, OH. He survives along with their daughter, Julia Marie (David) Baker and one special grandson, Thomas Michael. Also surviving are sisters, Anglene Cookston of Indianapolis, IN, Priscilla (Don) Ogden of Marysville, OH, brother, Ronald (Tonya) Perry of East Liberty, OH, sister-in-law Betty Perry of Duluth, GA, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Brian Douglas Wiant, brother Kenneth David Perry and brother-in-law Gale Cookston. Mrs. Wiant graduated from Triad High School, Champaign Co. in 1958 and earned her BS degree in Home Economics at OSU in 1962. She was a homemaker and “help meet” for her husband on the dairy farm and at the maple syrup camp for 25 years. Her time of employment outside the home was limited but she enjoyed belonging to many community outreaches. After Tom’s retirement the couple joined the Mobile Missionary Assistant Program –MMAP – and spent 7 years doing volunteer Christian construction work, traveling in their RV to 14 different states. Ilo loved serving the Lord and teaching Sunday School children. She was an active member of Union Chapel Community Church, West Liberty, OH for 38 years.
