Ima Mae Ellis nee Steffen passed away on June 12th, 2023 at Charter Senior Living after an almost decade long battle with dementia.
She was born on November 3rd, 1941 to Alois Steffen and Frances Steffen nee Butsch in Campbell County Kentucky. She was the third of nine children. She met Wayne Ellis and they married nine days later and they stayed married until his death in 2015. They raised their three children in Cincinnati, OH (with stops in Cleveland, OH and Rock Springs, WY.) Ima was the school secretary at Sands Montessori in Cincinnati for many years.
She was an avid amateur genealogist, traveling to various locations to obtain vital information. Her iris garden in front of her house was an absolute beauty while in full bloom. She loved her family, creating classic family traditions for the holidays and attending Steffen breakfasts whenever she could. And she was extraordinarily proud that all three of her children obtained a master's degree.
Ima is survived by her children Lynn Meisberger, Matt, and Luke (Kim). Her grandchildren: Sarah (Bill), Barb (Edward), Noah, and great grandchildren: Liam, Beatrice, Mabel, and Conrad. Her siblings: Joe (Nancy) and Tom (Vickie) Steffen, and Mary Hardin. Sister-in-laws Fran Ellis, Marcia and Sue Steffen. Along with numerous extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wayne "Bud" Ellis, her parents, siblings: Carol Jackson, Jim, Patricia and Mike Steffen, Sylvia Brown, and brother-in-law James Ellis.
