Ivy Lorraine Budd

Ivy Lorraine Budd (née Johnstone), 94, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on February 24, 2018.
She was born to the late George and Gwen Johnstone, September 3, 1923 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. She married the late Lloyd Alfred Budd in 1946 with whom she celebrated their life together both in Canada and the United States.
Ivy touched many lives through her work, philanthropy and friendships. Her work history reaches back to when, at age 13, she took a job at May’s beauty shop and completed an internship at the Londé before opening her own hairdressing business by age 18. Her future work experiences were numerous and varied – swim instructor; sales clerk at Penny’s; bank teller; assembly line work making Star Wars figures at Kenner; school cafeteria worker; data entry at a historical society in Eagle, Alaska; office worker at the YMCA .
Regardless of her work demands, Ivy always made time to volunteer at local hospitals, with Meals on Wheels and for several retirement communities. Ivy was inducted into the Cincinnati Senior Citizen Hall of Fame in 2011 in recognition for her thoughtful and heartfelt altruistic contributions to the North College Hill Senior Center.
Her time at home benefitted all who knew her. Enticing aromas wafted from her kitchen from the wonderful meals she prepared for dinner parties she loved to host or from the cookies and pies she baked to thank strangers, neighbors, friends and family for their kindness.
Sister to the late George Johnstone, Ivy leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters: Leslie Lorraine Poling of Brooksville, Florida and Rosalind Joyce Gallaspie of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren (Laurence Charles Gallaspie, Clinton Lloyd Gallaspie, and Tracy Lorraine Francisco); 5 great-grandchildren (Brandon, Abby, Jacob, Tess, and Quinn); one sister, Phyllis Scott of Saint Catharines, Ontario and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
