James L (Lloyd) Burton age 85 passed away 12/5/2020 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Grover and Mattie (Hurst) Burton. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Violet (June) Burton (nee Carter), his 3 children, Doug (Cathy) Burton, Jim (Rae Lynn) Burton, and Paula (Jeff) Middendorf. He adored his 7 grandchildren, Matt and Nicholas Burton, Brandy (Shannon) Grubb, Ashley (Dewayne) Stanifer, Chelsey (Adam) Pettyjohn, Emmalee Middendorf, and Maggie Burton. He also took great pride in his 9 great grandchildren, Elizabeth Burton, Logan, Alexis, & Kody Grubb, Owen, Oliver & Sydney Stanifer, Trevor & Harper Pettyjohn. He is also survived by two sisters, Berniece (Jearl) Cromer, Ruth (WA) Owens, and two sister-in-laws, Billie Burton, and Edie Raines. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie and Carl Burton and one brother-in-law Floyd (Bill) Raines. He was a member of the Loveland Heights Church of Christ and a faithful Christian for 66 years. We take comfort knowing he is resting in the arms of Jesus. He retired from General Motors in Norwood after 30 years of service. He loved his family and greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him. Visitation will be held at Hodapp Funeral Home Rt. 42, West Chester on Thursday, Dec.10th from 5 – 7pm. Funeral will be directly after visitation at 7pm. Friday there will be a short visitation at the Fairview Church of Christ in Somerset, Kentucky at 2pm and a graveside ceremony following at the Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Cincinnati. They were an amazing comfort to us in Dad’s last days.
